The Russian government labeled RADR as an "undesirable organization" under Russian federal law. This designation effectively criminalizes the activities of Russian citizens who support or associate with RADR.
Who we are
A community of Russian Americans building a freer, more just future — in our new home and in the country where most of us were born.
Of course, our dream is to build and strengthen pro-democracy Russian communities inside Russia — not in exile.
However, the dictatorship in Russia makes this impossible by targeting pro-democracy Russians with repressive measures and denying them their constitutional rights. Many members of our communities were forced to flee the country due to politically motivated persecution and have found safety in the United States, for which we are deeply grateful to the American nation.
Even here in the U.S., the Russian government continues to target Russian pro-democracy activists through politically motivated transnational repression. Below are several examples of such actions against RADR, a U.S.-based organization:
December 2024
Russian authorities charged Raisa Boiko, a RADR volunteer in Miami, FL, with participating in the activities of an "undesirable organization."
May 2025
RADR coordinators Dmitry Valuev and Nadia Valueva were added to Russia's official registry of terrorists and extremists. Neither of them has ever engaged in or supported terrorism in any form.
July 2, 2025
Russia's Parliamentary Committee asked the Prosecutor General to investigate over 100 activists and groups abroad, including RADR, for supporting an open letter to NATO's Hague summit urging aid to Ukraine and tougher measures against Russia.
About us
Mission
Russian America for Democracy in Russia (RADR) is a non-profit and non-partisan organization with 501(c)(3) status, uniting Russians in the United States who advocate for freedom and democracy in Russia, as well as for the victory of Ukraine in the war against Putin's dictatorship.
RADR unites local communities in different cities and states of the United States, which first came together in January 2021 on the wave of protests in support of Alexei Navalny.
Our mission is to empower and strengthen our communities that enrich our new home in the United States, to uplift newcomers from Russia, and to help pave the way for a freer, more just future in the country where most of us were born and raised.
